This tower is the oldest lighthouse in the world still working: the Tower of Hercules, in A Coruña, Galicia, Spain, built in the 1st Century and inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2009.

There are several legends about this construction. One of them speaks about the hero Hercules, who arrived by boat to this coast and buried here the head of Geryon after three days and three nights of battle. Another legend says King Breogan, the founding father of the Galician Celtic nation, built this tower for his sons to see a distant green shore from its top: Ireland. The glimpse of that distant green land lured them to sail there, so these Breogan's descendants who stayed in Ireland are the Celtic ancestors of the current Irish people.
